Mobility is the future of project management

Munich, August 6th 2013 Project managers want to manage projects on a tablet computer or on their smartphone in the near future. This makes project management software more and more a part of everyday mobile business life. This is one of the results of a survey by the software producer InLoox among its customers. The poll also showed as a result that Cloud-based project management solutions have considerable potential for growth.

The study reflects a trend towards increasing mobility in everyday business life. On the way to work or to a customer meeting, many project managers want to stay updated and get tasks done promptly. Project management on the go, however, is supposed to remain an additional option, because most of the users in the survey want to manage their projects on their desktop computer. Project management is not a task that managers usually finish along the way while they are on the go. For more complex planning and scheduling tasks, the desk stays the place to go.

The Cloud is on the rise

Whereas project management software users also want to use mobile devices for project management, they are still hesitant towards Cloud-based applications. 41 percent of the respondents do not consider SaaS solutions yet. A quarter of the interviewed persons already work with Cloud-based software. 15 percent of the respondents imagine using Cloud software in the future. 16 percent have not made a decision regarding this topic yet.

Project management software is an inherent part of everyday work life

The survey cannot confirm the observation that project management software lies forgotten and unused after it has been introduced. Most of the participants do not want to be without project management software. Three quarters of the respondents use it on a daily basis. 68 percent of the interviewees use InLoox for longer than a year.

The most important reasons for the high levels of user acceptance of the software lie in the seamless integration into company-wide applications such as Microsoft Outlook, in the intuitive usability and the adaptability on the conditions in their company, according to the respondents. “The survey confirms what we have expected and what we experience every day. Project management software cannot escape the trend towards mobile apps”, says Dr. Andreas Tremel, Managing Director of InLoox. “The results show that it was the right step to add the InLoox Mobile Apps and the Cloud solution InLoox now! to our product portfolio. It is important for the acceptance of standard software that it meets the users’ needs. We will therefore keep listening very carefully to our users’ demands and will not rest on our laurels.”

InLoox has recently introduced the InLoox Mobile Apps for project management on the iPhone and on Android devices. They make it easy for users to access their project data, give feedback on work packages and track the time they spent for project-related tasks. For the highly flexible use across several company sites and workgroups, InLoox offers the Cloud solution InLoox now!
